NexGen Fluid Innovations Filters Palm Oil Mill Effluent in Indonesia

Technology pilot program is intended to reduce the environmental

impact of palm oil mill effluent, a highly polluting material.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sheridan, Wyoming, December 16, 2022 – NexGen Fluid Innovations LLC of Sheridan, Wyoming signed a Letter of Intent with Fluid Technology Solutions, Inc. of Albany, Oregon on October 10, 2022 to conduct a pilot test for filtering palm oil Mill Effluent (POME) in Indonesia.

The pollution-reducing pilot test is now underway. NexGen’s VP of Operations, Jon Larsen, central conducting the pilot trial in Sumatra, Indonesia

The test is being conducted in conjunction with and paid for by a local engineering service provider that is offering wastewater treatment solutions at palm oil facilities in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Indonesia is the world’s leading producer of palm oil, supplying approximately half of the commodity worldwide. While oil palm is a highly efficient crop, there are severe environmental and social consequences of this rapidly expanding industry.

Pollution of soil and water caused by wastewater is one of the major global threats that our environment is facing today. One of the wastewater sources is palm oil mill effluent final discharge (POME FD), which is a by-product of the palm oil extraction process.

“We are extremely optimistic about this opportunity to showcase our filtering system. When testing proves successful, there are well over 1,000 mill facilities in the area of interest and the local provider is targeting 300-400 mills in the next 5 years that could utilize our patented filter system,” stated Rob Kindle, CEO, CFO of NexGen.

“All these facilities face identical struggles associated with the palm oil production process. They are under pressure from their governments as current processes release significant volumes of methane, a very potent greenhouse gas component. Furthermore, a by-product of the filtration process allows for the creation of biodiesel, thereby also reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” continued Mr. Kindle.
